Deciphering the Dollars: Navigating Victorian Drawing Room Set Build Budgets
Budgeting for a set build is never simple, there are many factors to consider, and if you’re new to the business you may need a helping hand. In this blog, we’ve priced up 3 versions of a Victorian Drawing Room, starting with a very simple Budget option, through to a Medium priced option, and on to a High-End version.
Budget Option
This set would be built of standard 12×10’ flats, with a painted chipboard floor and a windbag ceiling. The window is a frosted sash-style window, removing the need for any backing. The walls painted and aged, with a painted panelled door. The fireplace has a simple surround, with no detailing.

Medium Option
Once again, we’d start with standard 12×10’ flats, but we’d add a painted ceiling piece with a plaster ceiling rose and decorative cornices. The window would be upgraded to a leaded glass window with a simple white backing flat. The walls would be wallpapered, and the door slightly more elaborate. The fire surround would be painted to look like marble and the flooring, a parquet effect.

High End Option
This last option has all the trimmings but again starts with standard 12×10’ flats. The painted ceiling would feature extensive plaster mouldings with deep plaster cornices. The walls, now feature now plastered panels, hand-painted with a mural and feature full-height windows with a scenic backcloth. Large Mahogany painted doors with decorative mouldings, and marble-effect flooring adds to the opulence of this room. Lastly, an elaborate fire surround and columns finish off the finest Victorian Drawing room around!
