Quiz is a three-part ITV drama from 2020, written by James Graham and directed by Stephen Frears. Based on James Graham’s stage play, it tells the story of Charles Ingram, the army major at the centre of the 2001 Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? cheating scandal.

Totom built the replica Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? studio set at Wimbledon Studios, completed in three weeks. The brief was forensic in its accuracy: a 1:1 recreation of the 2001 era studio, including the circular floor design, the Hot Seat geometry, and the glass-and-steel aesthetic of the show’s early years. The set was fabricated from metalwork with integrated lighting, designed to allow camera angles that mirrored the original broadcast footage precisely enough to make transitions between drama and archive material almost seamless.

Production Designer Stephen Campbell worked with the original technical team from the 2001 show to ensure lighting cues and the show’s signature sound transitions matched the source material. You can see the set being assembled in the time-lapse construction video above.
